It is not unusual for many people to deal with unwanted and embarrassing hair in areas such as the breasts or private regions. Many times waxing or tweezing has complicated the situation and plagued people with red, swollen, or painful reactions. Removing the hair through temporary methods causes the hair to become more course and pigmented and can increase the amount of hair that you have, or can potentially create ingrown hairs. The good news is electrolysis is a safe and effective solution to this problem. Hair around the areolas or bikini region can be eliminated with little discomfort to you, while giving you relief from skin irritation.
Electrolysis is safe and effective for all skin tones and hair types, regardless of the amount of melanin in your skin. Because the electrologist manually inserts the probe into the follicle to deliver current to the skin, it is not necessary to rely on the pigmentation of the hair in contrast with skin tone to deliver an effective treatment. Many times, course hair can cause hyperpigmentation to develop on the skin. After the skin has been treated with electrolysis and the hair has been eliminated, the hyperpigmentation will dissipate and return the skin to an even complexion. It is not a question of if electrolysis will be effective for everyone. What varies is the amount of treatments needed to permanently remove the hair.
Electrolysis is an ideal solution for course or curly hair. This type of hair is prone to causing ingrown hairs and irritation or scarring of the skin, if left untreated. Electrolysis safely removes ingrowns and begins to deliver immediate relief from the problems that this type of hair causes. Multiple treatments are usually required for permanent results, but the improvements will be noticeable with each treatment.
Treatments can be given during pregnancy, though some adjustments must be made. The breasts and abdomen are not treated during pregnancy. We refrain from giving treatments during the first trimester, but will treat during the second and third trimesters with Thermolysis treatments. No Galvanic or Blend treatments will be administered throughout the pregnancy.
Many times, course, terminal hairs on the lip, chin, side of face, chest, breasts, and abdomen can be a sign of a hormone imbalance. Hormone imbalances can have numerous sources, such as thyroid issues, adrenal issues, PCOS, menopause, puberty, pregnancy or post partum changes to name just a few possibilities. If you suspect that you may have an imbalance it is recommended that you visit with an endocrinologist. Electrolysis can treat the unwanted side effect of hair effectively, but we cannot control whether or not new hairs are stimulated in untreated follicles. For this reason, it can feel discouraging when new hairs develop if the source of the problem is not controlled. It is guaranteed that we can treat this symptom, but it is important to listen to your body as unwanted hair is not the only side effect of a hormone imbalance and your health is the most important factor overall.

Children as early as 12 years old can begin to develop hair in the lip or eyebrow area. We require that females have their first menstruation before we will treat them. It is important for us to determine as well the importance of the treatment for the child. As it can be an uncomfortable process, the motivation of the child is key in determining whether or not electrolysis is appropriate for them at this time. Our first concern is the clients comfort.
We understand that this is not just about unwanted hair, it is about identity and not just feeling but believing that you are beautiful in your skin. We understand how delicate this process can be for people. The first thing to know is that we are here to help. We can promise that you will be met with compassion, kindness and support. Our electrologist is experienced in treating clients who are transitioning and will be respectful of your personal choices as well as your privacy. Please know that it is important to share information about your goals and medications with your electrologist as it could affect treatments.
You can have electrolysis even if you have tattoos! The tattoo does not hinder the effectiveness of the treatment. Existing scars tend to have excessive hair growth if they are stimulated by tweezing. It is not a problem to treat them with electrolysis. Moles may also be treated but we require a doctors note granting permission.
